ree

ATL is the home of superstars! We ran into trending artist Just Blaq! He has one of th hottest summer anthems out called " Shake ". Check out our exclusive with him below!

Tell me in a few words, who you are. How would you describe

yourself in a short story?

My name is Raheem “Just BLAQ” Morris. I am a 90s Baby from

country old Dublin Ga but currently reside in Atlanta Ga. I have been

doing Music with dreams of becoming a Superstar since the age of

13. Originally beginning with a church background I've performed in

front of some amazing Artists throughout my career thus far.

I would describe myself in a Short story as someone resilient and

who never gives up. I'm like that super hero that just will never give

up. I have a heart of Gold. I just want to share it with the world.

● What’s your stage name and how did you come up with it?

My stage name is Just BLAQ, I actually used to go by literally just

“BLAQ”. My name originated in 2020 during the pandemic. I had

begun doing music again after a bad break up and all I saw was Black

during those times. (You are the FIRST to ever read that. Lucky you

lol) I decided to drop the CK because it just didn't sit right with my

soul to be that ordinary and the Q was added. I changed my name to

“Just BLAQ” after going through a deeper form of healing and

understanding who I am. “Just BLAQ” signifies that no matter what

the world views me as. I will always be just me and I feel thats the

humblest mindset you could ever have.

● What got you into music?

I discovered music shortly after writing poetry. I was about 8 years old

and I used to really enjoy poetry. When I realised I could sing and rap

made it even sweeter. Music has always made me feel amazing about

myself no matter the genre or decade. I just recently discovered a song

by Jane child called Don't wanna fall in love and the feeling it gives is just

everything. Those vibes are the vibes I want to create and give to the

world.

● What was life like growing up?

Growing up Life was challenging but I won't complain. I grew up in a

household of 6 siblings, sometimes 7. I had a very Hardworking

Mother and a pretty decent step dad. I wouldn't say Life was perfect

but I dealt with my triggers. We grew up slightly bouncing around, I

honestly think my Mom was trying to find herself throughout our

childhood so that made moving around for Her easy. My dad Passed

on my 14th birthday and the few memories I have are precious to my

heart and I take those with me everyday.

● Who is your inspiration? What keeps you going to get up daily and

put effort into your music career?

My kids are My Primary inspiration to grind Every single day to make

this dream reality. Honestly People do as well. I run into so many

people everyday who are going through things but smile through

them and all I want to do is hug them. I feel that my music will do

that for me when I'm not around. People deserve to feel loved No

matter who you are.

● What is your creative process like? What is the meaning behind

your current single?

My creative process is really chil. I get inspired all of the time just by

simple things. If you are around long enough I'll randomly start singing

about my thoughts or what's going on around me. At the moment I am

pushing two singles. Shake and Feel Alright. The meaning behind shake

is get up and just dance. It encourages you to just be free and true to

yourself with a little bit of club jumping. Feel Alright is My message to

the world that things will get better. I actually fell in Love recently and

we collaborated on the writing of this song. I loved it so much I recorded

it from my phone and just put it out. It gives that raw early 2000s feeling

that so many people really enjoy and I just want to make the world Feel

Alright.

● What is the name of the current single/ep/album that you are

pushing? Do you prefer people to buy it or stream? And why?

Shake and Feel Alright can be streamed or bought. I'm not gonna Take

the world's options away. Any way they can get the music, GET IT!

● With the industry changing so much, would you stay indie or sign to

a label? Why and why not?

My preference has always been to sign with a label. I feel in order to

learn everything I need to know, I need to be under a team who can

assist in molding me to get those Grammys that I'm going to receive.

● Do you feel like the music industry has went down since the

pandemic? Why or why not? Where you affected by the pandemic

with music or everyday life?

I don't feel like Music has gone down since the Pandemic. I just believe

that talent has gotten more diverse. The world likes diverse things and

oddly enough they have an ear for different things. Music is growing

everyday and the pandemic just created another avenue for people to

see that. Yes I was slightly affected by the pandemic. I continued to grind

through it. Actually receiving a few nominations and awards during it.

● If you were given a chance to sit down and have a business dinner

with a celebrity who would it be and why?

Just one? Honestly it would be Beyonce. I would like to know just how?

What keeps her humble. When I've seen How crazy things can be just on

this level alone. I want that longevity and I will take the advice from

anyone I can.

● How do you balance everyday life tied into your music career?

Music is a part of my everyday life. I'm doing something Every single day

to make my career shine more.

● Tell me about your most memorable moment in your career?

My most memorable moment so far has been. Being asked by DISnDAT

and Mike Mike of the 69 boyz for a feature. They are legends in the

industry and it is an extreme honor to now know them personally.

● What style of music do you prefer to make? Would you ever try a

different lane?

I prefer all genres. If I feel it I'm gonna go for it.

● Do you have a celebrity crush?

I actually dont! Crazy Right.

● Is there anyone who you would collaborate with right now?

Yes! It would be Glorilla. I just love her energy. I saw her perform at the

HipHop awards in 2023 and I fell in love. She's such an amazing artist!

● Who is the producer and engineer behind your music?

I have begun working with Michael “Mike beezy” Johnson again on

My newest music. He has produced Shake and another one of my

single Eat Em Up.

● What are you currently working on and what is next for you?

Im currently working on a New single called say ahhh. In which will be

putting on the road soon.

● When it comes to fashion, what's your dressing style ?

I'm very diverse with my dressing style. I prefer High fashion wear.

But I'm not opposed to a nice tailored suit.

● If you could open up for one celebrity who would it be and why?

If I could open up for one celebrity it would be. Glorilla. I wouldn't mind

piping the people up for the main event. It would be an Honor.

● Any funny stories or embarrassing moments you want to share with

our readers?

NOPE! They will just have to surf the web. It's out

there.

● What would you be doing right now if it wasn’t for your music

career?

I would be doing Exactly what I'm doing. I don't see myself doing

anything else.

● What is one message you would give to your fans?

The Most important message is to NEVER give up. I know its cliche

but all of the work, dedication and Faith is gonna pay off. I promise!

Keep the faith and keep going.
