Tell me in a few words, who you are. How would you describe

yourself in a short story?

1. My name is kerina alex I’m an rnb hiphop artist all the way from trinidad, I’m also a multi genre artist who’s very versatile and open minded to trying new things I also like gaining different audiences and just experimenting,and having fun, I just love spreading my wings and learning new stuff.


What’s your stage name and how did you come up with it?

2. My stage name is kerina alex, honestly I didn’t come up with a stage name my mom named me kerina and I just thought it was a unique name so why change it lol so I decided to leave my name as kerina, and while my government sur name is still my dads surname which is John I decided to add my moms sur name which is Alexander to my artist name so I just shortened it to Alex and that’s how we got kerina alex!


What got you into music?

3. What got me into music is me having a passion for music since I was a kid, I just always knew this was my destiny and with the support of my friends and family and ofcorse my fans it just gave me motivation to keep going.


What was life like growing up?

4. My life was actually amazing growing up I was always outside playing, climbing trees, eating lots of fruits and snacks, going to the beaches and rivers, playing lots of games with my cousins and friends I really enjoyed my childhood actually it was really fun.


Who is your inspiration? What keeps you going to get up daily

and put effort into your music career?

5. My inspiration is my parents I’d love to make them proud, and also my supporters Its a great feeling to actually make the ones who always believed in me proud and also prove the ones who didn’t wrong. My inspiration is also myself, like I said I always knew i was destined for greatness since I was a kid and I just kept that confidence.


What is your creative process like? What is the meaning behind

your current single?

6. Well because I’m so in tune with my music writing and ideas for songs comes naturally to me, so My creative process is easy, I also draw on my life experiences and others as well and tbh I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my writing and my music but I also like having fun with it aswell, And this current song is about just basically living a rent free no f#%ks given life and just having fun doing what u feel like and and of course just being happy, I mean u only live once so your happiness is important.



What is the name of the current single/ep/album that you

are pushing? Do you prefer people to buy it or stream? And

why?

7. The name of the current single is No f#%ks given, and I would prefer them to buy cause when they buy it it actually means they are willing to invest in me as an artist and that they actually really love my music.



With the industry changing so much, would you stay indie or

sign to a label? Why and why not?

8. With the industry changing being indie isn’t bad tbh, I actually like being independent cause I have full autonomy over my career and my music however if a label approaches me and they fully support my ideas as a musician and they have my best interest at heart, I’ll be willing to partner with them,


Do you feel like the music industry has went down since the

pandemic? Why or why not? Where you affected by the

pandemic with music or everyday life?

9. No I don’t think it did and honestly I think the pandemic has helped a lot of ppl with mastering their craft and becoming better at it including myself, it just delayed a few stuff but I was able to learn different things with the time I had and became even greater at it, so no the pandemic didn’t affect me honestly, it was sorrow but I made it my own joy.


If you were give a chance to sit down and have a business

dinner with a celebrity who would it be and why?

10. If I was to have a business dinner with a celebrity it will definitely be Rihanna and since we’re both from the Caribbean that business dinner would actually go great lol plus I must say she’s a pretty dope business woman so getting some advice from her would be awesome.


How do you balance everyday life tied into your music career?

11. My everyday life and music life can be a bit overwhelming but you just have to put your mind to multitasking and eventually everything should be fine.



Tell me about your most memorable moment in your career?

12. My most memorable moments will deff be the the start of my career when I dropped my first singles like “voicemail” and “bad” I had racked up over 400k streams on SoundClodud and other streaming sites and I also gained a fanbase and the support was just amazing for a first timer. I also released a soca called radio that was a Hit and it was playing so much on the radio, that when eva I came on my grandad would call my mom and said “I’m hearing your daughter on the radio” lol, i did alot of radio tours and I was pretty booked with shows and it was just a great experience, so those are definitely my most memorable moments.



What style of music do you prefer to make? Would you

ever try a different lane?

13. The style of music I would prefer make is more rnb /hiphop vibes that’s my main genre but I’m also a multi genre artist so my catalog got alot of different genres in between like pop, reggae, dancehall,soca etc and so far I think I got a pretty dope catalog so I’m getting use to exploring and being even more versatile than I ever was and i must say so far I’m loving the growth.



Do you have a celebrity crush?

14. No I don’t have a celebrity crush atm but I did when I was younger I had a crush on the Jonas brothers, and Enrique the singer I even had my own Enrique doll at 1 point lol



Is there anyone who you would collab with right now?

15. If I had to choose a feature atm I would definitely choose Nicki Minaj or, Riri, because Not only are we all from the Caribbean but I think their style of music is similar to mine. I think we would have a fire track .


Who is the producer and engineer behind your music?

16. The producer behind my music is Sean Yorke but I work with other producers as well cause I honestly like networking and working with different people.



What are you currently working on and what is next for you?

17. Right now I’m currently working on an album and new music videos thats soon to be dropped and I just dropped a new single called No F#*ks given, honestly I got a lot coming soon I don’t wanna give to much but let’s just say I like to leave things as a surprise so who knows, yal just stay tuned



When it comes to fashion, whats your dressing style ?

18. When it comes to fashion my dressing style would deff be, classy but a little hood at times, I’m very fancy and stylish, I like switching things up a notch and I also designed some of my own clothing for my shoots and videos so I got a really good fashion sense.



What is your creative process like and who inspired you to

make music?

19. My creative process is easy tbh cause I just think if your actually talented being creative is like a walk in the park, you just have to put your mind to it and stay focused on your craft, I would say what inspires me would deff be the support I get from everyone like my friends, family, and ofcorse my fans, they keep me motivated and give me the confidence to just keep going and just keep being the great Artist that I am.



If you could open up for one celebrity who would it be and why?

20. If I got to open up for a celebrity it would definitely be nicki Minaj cause we’re both Caribbeans and we’re both great artist and itl just make a lot of sense



Any funny stories or an embarrassing moments you want to

share with our readers?

21. 1 of my shows I had a wardrobe madfunction and it was so embarrassing that up till this day I’m so traumatized and I wouldn’t elaborate on it. Lol




What would you be doing right now if it wasn’t for your music

career?

22. If it wasn’t for my music career I would definitely be an entrepreneur and just a great business woman, I still plan on doing so with my clothing business @jalexdesigns it’s just my music comes first so that’s my main focus atm



What is one message you would give to your fans?

23. I would tell my fans to stay tru to yourself, love yourself, be confident, be a badass and most of all be happy.
